Continuing the field visits aimed at identifying long-term solutions to waterlogging during the monsoon in the CURE-3 municipal corporation areas, the team today inspected several locations in the Malkajgiri municipal limits. The visit covered Chikoti Gardens in Begumpet, Uppal, LB Nagar and Karmanghat.
The observations were largely similar across locations. Key issues identified included the need for widening inlet nalas and drains, correcting sharp 90-degree turns that impede water flow, ensuring regular maintenance instead of seasonal or annual desilting, undertaking similar improvements in outlet nalas, and maintaining appropriate water levels in lakes during periods of heavy rainfall.
These issues fall under the jurisdiction of multiple departments, and effective coordination among them is critical for achieving lasting solutions.
Based on the findings from these field visits, a set of recommendations is being prepared for establishing a unified command structure with clear responsibility and accountability. The proposals will be submitted to the Government for consideration and issuance of appropriate orders.
