Telangana Police athletes showcased exceptional talent at the prestigious 3rd All India Police Weightlifting Cluster Championship (Weightlifting, Powerlifting & Yoga) 2026-27 held recently at Madhuban, Haryana, bringing laurels to the state by securing three medals at the national level.
The championship, conducted from May 23 to May 27, witnessed remarkable performances from Telangana Police personnel, who secured one silver medal and two bronze medals, highlighting the department’s growing excellence not only in policing but also in sports.
Recognizing their achievements, Telangana Director General of Police (DGP) C.V. Anand congratulated the medal winners during a special interaction held at the DGP Office on Wednesday. The DGP appreciated the dedication, discipline, and commitment displayed by the athletes and stated that excelling at the national level while performing demanding police duties is a matter of great pride for the entire Telangana Police Department.
He encouraged the athletes to continue their hard work and strive for greater success in future national and international competitions.
*Silver and Bronze Medals in Powerlifting*
WPC S. Renuka from CCS, Malkajgiri Commissionerate secured a Silver Medal in the Women’s Powerlifting (+84 kg category). She achieved this feat by lifting a total of 367.5 kilograms, including 152.5 kg in Squat, 75 kg in Bench Press, and 140 kg .
ARPC M. Vamsi from OSD, Bhadradri Kothagudem won a Bronze Medal in the Men’s Powerlifting 59 kg category by lifting a total of 407.5 kilograms and demonstreted outstanding strength and performance at the national stage.
*Bronze Medal for Telangana Women’s Yoga Team*
The Telangana Women’s Team secured a Bronze Medal in the Women’s Artistic Pair Yoga event through an impressive collective performance.
The medal-winning team comprised:

• B. Ratnakumari, WPC 3396, Bhadrachalam Police Station, Bhadradri Kothagudem
• B. Saubhagya, WPC 1692, Women Police Station / She Teams, Mahabubabad

• K. Rani, WPC 665, Illandu Police Station, Bhadradri Kothagudem
The DGP also appreciated the efforts and contribution of Weightlifting & Powerlifting Coach Ramu and ARSI T. Ramesh, acknowledging their role in supporting and training the athletes for national-level competitions.
The achievements of Telangana Police athletes have drawn appreciation from senior police officers and colleagues across the department, with many praising the team for bringing recognition and pride to Telangana Police at the national level.
IGP (Sports) Dr. Gajarao Bhupal, Sports Officer Dr. R.V. Ramarao, DSPs, and athletes were present during the programme and appricited the winners.
