CV Anand reviews security arrangements at Golkonda Bonalu

 As the devotees geared up to celebrate Bonalu festival on a grand note  starting from today,  Hyderabad City Police Commissioner Mr.CV Anand visited the  Sree Jagadamba Mahankali Temple  located at Golkonda on the top of the fort and trekked up hill to reach the temple    to review the security arrangements. He interacted with the temple authorities and supervised the barricading, illumination, accessibility at counters and queue-lines.

He requested the temple managements to alert the control room on any objects or articles misplaced during the festivities.

Accompanied by his deputies from Law & Order, Traffic  wings Joel Davis and Karunakar,he inspected the procession route from Langarhouse X roads to Golkonda and instructions were given to facilitate easy access to devotees by managing the traffic flow. A huge contingent of police force of 800 was deployed along the procession route along with 8 TSSP platoons 

Keeping in view the large number of women devotees thronging the Mahankali temple, SHE teams personnel in plain clothes were posted to keep a tab on the eve teasers and snatchers and more women personnel were deployed   for the Bonalu celebration. Top priority was being accorded to security at temple premises, temporary stages ,  and restrictive perimeter will be maintained  around the cultural troops enroute.

City Police Multipronged strategy brings in deterrence on drug abuse

 On the International Day against drug abuse and illicit trafficking, observed annually on June 26th ,  City Police Commissioner Mr.CV Anand along with the Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing (H-NEW) officers  took part in the rally at Basheerbagh. 

On the occasion, CP Anand retraced the stringent measures initiated by the Telangana state  Government to root out the drugs menace and outlined the  numerous strides made by the City Police to make the city drug free. In the initial stage, by collaborating with various sections of prominent personalities, awareness campaigns were conducted in colleges, neighbourhoods to senistize vulnerable age groups on the dangers of drug abuse. A dedicated helpline 9490616888 has also been launched facilitating any citizen to tipoff on drug abuse or trade.

The highly trained H-New (Hyderabad naracotics enforcement Wing) and NISW(Narcotics Investigation supervision wing), instated in 2022, busted many  inter-state drug peddler gangs and also arrested International drug peddler Nicolas olusola Rotimy alias Toni by developing the informant network.  Around 124 kgs of Ganja, 5.4 kg of hash oil, 116 lsd blots, 25 gram MDMA, 10 ectasy pills, 75 gsm of Heroine etc., were seized. 124 peddlers, 96 consumers and 4 transporters were arrested. PD act has been invoked on 12 persons based on the proposals received from various wings.

The commissioner’s task force raided more than 40  high-end pubs & star hotels  and maintains “strict surveillance” . The managements of bars & pubs were also  apprised to conduct their businesses in a responsible manner to safeguard the image of the city. 

City police also entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with private and government institutions  to help the drug addicts come out of the habit permanently and a rehabilitation monitoring team has been formed by drawing  officers from HCP who  also act as change agents. "Drug abuse affects individual’s development,  health and disrupts social harmony. We need to spread awareness in this regard.” Said CP Anand.

PLAN OF ACTION FOR THE FUTURE:-

 The Hyderabad City Police and H-NEW plans to start Anti Drug Committees on the lines of Anti Ragging Committees, in each and every college, University, Intermediate Colleges and also the High Schools in this academic session of 2022-2023. These Anti Drug Committees will be responsible for monitoring the use and peddling of Drug in this premises, hostels etc., of those educational institutions.

 To spread awareness about the ill effects of Drugs through a widespread campaign of education through all available Social fora, Institutions etc. 

HCP aims at enhancing better coordination  with National agencies like NCB, DRI, Customs, IB and ED etc., to track down Narcotics smuggling and peddling gangs and control the in flow and spread into India.

City police gears up for Bakrid festival

 In view of the forthcoming Bakrid festival to be celebrated on 10th of July,  Hyderabad City Police Commissioner Mr.CV Anand held  a  coordination meeting at city police headquarters, Basheerbagh.The meeting attended by Mr.Mahesh Bhagavath, CP Rachakonda; Mr.Stephen Ravindra, CP Cyberabad , senior officials from GHMC, transport and animal husbandry department discussed in detail about all the connected aspects involved in the  illegal transport of cattle during this season.

In view of the recent confrontations between different groups at several places in city and the bordering districts, ban on slaughtering in other states,  police officers has sensitised the other government department officials about the network of the cattle suppliers, transporters, receivers and slaughter houses to enable them aware of the over all situation and repercussions on Law & order, public sentiment.

Police Chiefs of Tri-commissionerates has asked  the GHMC to setup more animal shelters with adequate feed, water at the facility to quickly accommodate the seized cattle. In response to the query on animal remains during the festival, GHMC officials assured that sanitisation teams will be pressed into service to clear them off the roads, ponds and open drains. Emergency vehicles, GHMC vet teams will also be on stand-by.

Hyderabad CP Anand  also issued a stern warning against self-styled groups and individuals taking law into their hands in the name of protecting animals. “If anyone has information about illegal transport of cattle, then it should be brought to the notice of the officials.” he said. 

“The police authorities set up checks across the city to check the entry of cattle illegally into the city. The check-posts will be manned round the clock by a team comprising officials of the Animal Husbandry Department, the local police and GHMC officials.” he added.

Upon the instruction of CP-Hyderabad, South Zone DCP made a detailed presentation on the modus operandi of various groups, including cattle suppliers, mediators, drivers, pilots, informants,buyers involved in the cattle transporting  who has their links and contacts in many neighbouring states of Telangana and apprised the attendees about the bypass methods, the unexposed economic activity and trade happening in the dark side often driving the parties to attack one-another to remain dominant among their peers and the activities of the counter parts i.e.,vigilantes and other NGOs.

The animal husbandry officials assured that veterinary doctors will also liaise with police officers, other govt departments and provide assistance round the clock at the check posts. “All our officers were briefed on the prevailing  acts aimed at animal safety  and other circulars.” Said Anjalappa, Joint director , animal husbandry department.

Mr.Pandu Ranganayak, Jt.Transport commissioner said that deployment of drivers and other required services from their department will be catered as per the requirement.

CP reviews security arrangements ahead of PMs visit

 Ahead of the Hon’ble Prime Minister's visit to Hyderabad city to attend the BJP’s national executive Committee meeting in HICC Novotel and also to address a public meeting on July 2nd-3rd at Parade Grounds, Hyderabad City police commissioner Mr.CV Anand held a co-ordination meeting with senior police officers, GHMC,TSSPDCL, R&B,Fire servcies, army officials and the political party  representatives  to review  security arrangements.

The meeting discussed details of the PM’s visit, his arrival , stay ,attendance and departure and contingency plans in case of emergencies. CP Anand appealed to the representatives of the political party  to set up coordination committees to liaison with the officials of all departments,SPG  and asked them not to make any last minute changes in the program. The traffic branch pointed out the need for the Cantonment officials to allot adequate parking grounds for the vehicles carrying public from various districts of Telangana, the TSCPDCL asked the BJP leadership to organise sufficient generators.


The city police will make ample deployment of forces and Quick Response Teams will be pressed into service and additional reinforcements have also been put on standby. “Anti-sabotage precautions along with access control constitute the cornerstone of any security arrangement for the protection of VVIPs. Law & order, traffic officials were instructed to make all security plans in strict adherence to the SPGs Blue Book.” Said CP Anand.

Deployment of   snipers,anti-sabotage checks,  roof-top watch, mufti parties, route map, trial runs and multi-layer security arrangements are being made in the city limits. Only valid pass holders will be allowed to participate in the public meeting and all the  attendees will be  frisked. There will be elaborate measures in place to deal with any spontaneous protests.

The Medical and Health Department has also been asked to position specialist medical teams, ambulances  along with equipment at the venues. To ensure Covid-19 protocols,all the pass holders will undergo RT-PCR tests before the scheduled program. It has been decided to nominate one senior official from each department to quickly address any issue from the  control center  that would be setup at the venue.

CP held a meeting with central peace and welfare commitee

 During a Central Peace and welfare  Committee meeting held at the CP office,Basheerbagh on Thursday city police commissioner Mr.CV Anand said that Hyderabad City has been the flag bearer of Ganga-Jamuna Tehzeeb. Ahead of the festivals starting from June 30th ,  top cops interacted with the members of the peace committee, which comprised representatives  from various religions , and urged them to maintain peace.

The peace committees which  were instated in the year 2002, had been instrumental as the participants close connections to the community place them in a unique position to identify and intervene in community issues early on, acting as a link between the city police  and the people they serve.

CP Anand in his address floated the idea of forming of peace forces comprising of the local youth at the ward levels and exhorted the elders to be proactive in guiding them. He expressed the confidence, that the youth forces if formed, can play a stellar role to assist the concerned in collecting vital information and control the situation based on local needs.

All the zonal DCPs were instructed to revamp the  peace committees with more youngsters onboard and to maintain frequent interactions with the  members.” Let us spread  positive overwhelming content through social media to foster peace and harmony.” Said Mr.Anand.While thanking the leaders for maintaining peace in Hyderabad, CP  said the city police has stepped up social media monitoring and action is being taken against persons who are trying to disturb peace. He urged leaders not to be carried away by fake messages calling upon community to hold protests.

The peace committee  members  appreciated the initiative of the city police  to call representatives of different religions and also  thanked for the work done in handling security arrangements during the festivals of various religions that were  concluded peacefully. Members assured  to the police that they would maintain utmost caution and ensure that no untoward incident would occur.Later they felicitated CP Anand. 

The 17,000 police personnel guards the city 24/7 to protect the state capital which is a home of diverse people drawn from various parts of the globe and HCP officers strike the best possible balance between religious liberty and public safety.

CP Anand appreciates Khairatabad Utsav Committee

 The Khairatabad Ganesh Utsav Samithi members were felicitated by the city police commissioner Mr.CV Anand and GHMC commissioner Mr Lokesh for deciding to make the Khairatabad Ganesh idol with clay and organic colours this year. Appreciating their move, CP said that clay idols are pro environment and appealed to the public to emulate the same and  to celebrate the festival in a most eco-friendly and grand manner. 

The GHMC and the city police  contemplates to hold training programme on making  clay idols during Vinayaka Chaturthi celebrations.During the meeting, which took place at the CP office, HCP Chief  Mr.Anand along with GHMC commissioner Mr.Lokesh Kumar sought the views of the Utsav samithi members on how they plan to organise the festival celebration.

CP also assured that all possible help will be provided to Khairatabad Ganesh Ustav Samithi at all levels and urged them to set up proper barricading system in quelines and illuminate the entire area for the convenience  of the devotees. “Our officers will be stationed to tackle any situation. Traffic wing will monitor all the routes  abutting  to the idol site   and  towing vehicles will be pressed into service  to clear the  vehicles blocking the carriage way. Even  the rail track near the pandal will be monitored.” he said. 

 “GHMC  is making elaborate arrangements including road repairs, pothole filling, addressing water stagnation, LED lighting and other issues. From our end, we will distribute 5 lakh clay idols.  If we create an awareness among so many people then our message will surely penetrate further.” Said GHMC  Commissioner Mr.Lokesh Kumar.

Long pending civic works have been pointed out, to which the GHMC Commissioner assured that they would be completed before the festival. 

“The Khairatabad Ganesh idol is one of the  most popular Ganesh pandals in the country and we want to do our bit for the environment. This year, the gigantic idol will be 50 feet tall and the work has commenced at full pace. ” Said Sudarshan, founder & chairman of Khairatabad Ganesh Utsava Samithi.
