Smart Learning Emphasised at Coaching Academy Launch Event
Mr.CV Anand shared the stage with former cricketer Yuvraj Singh and noted Telugu actor Brahmanandam during the launch of the Big Academy, focused on IIT and other entrance coaching.
Addressing the gathering, he emphasized on studying smartly, with a focus on quality rather than quantity, to succeed in competitive examinations.
Reference was made to Yuvraj Singh’s inspiring journey, including his battle with cancer and his role as Player of the Series in India’s victory at the 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup, highlighting him as a role model for students.The event also featured a light-hearted moment, with a brief cricket interaction where a few balls were bowled and faced, adding to the enthusiasm of the occasion.Jan 9, 2026
Prison Reforms Reviewed During Cherlapalli Jail Visit
Home Secretary Mr.CV Anand visited the Cherlapalli Jail as part of field inspections of the Prisons Department. The facility, established in 2000, was recalled as one of the most modern prisons in the country at the time of its inauguration, noted for promoting the concept of prisons as correctional rather than purely punitive institutions.
During the visit, the premises were inspected and a detailed briefing was provided by Director General of Prisons Soumya Mishra and her team. It was informed that the prison currently houses around 1,950 convicted and undertrial inmates. A structured daily routine is followed, beginning with yoga and physical training, and including education, skill development, sports, and recreation, along with regular meals.Facilities such as a well-maintained hospital, classrooms, and a library were observed. Skill development initiatives include tailoring and computer education. Particular attention was drawn to prison industries, where inmates are engaged in the production of items such as durries, carpets, woven products, phenyl, soaps, sanitizers, detergents, bakery products, garments, mats, furniture, and other goods.It was noted that inmates are paid daily wages, which they are able to save and send to their families. Rehabilitation measures such as prison-run petrol bunks, legal aid, and interest-free loans are also being implemented. Interactions were held with inmates, who expressed a desire for more liberal parole and furlough provisions to enable more frequent family visits.

Meeting with MHA officials
A meeting was held with the team of officials from MHA Ministry of Home Affairs led by Jt secretary Pausumi Basu,IAS with the Home department related HODs , to review the progress of implementation of various facets of the new criminal laws BNS, BNSS, BNA brought in place of the IPC ,CrPC ,IEA.
The new criminal procedure code involves the use of far more forensics , forensic officers at the crimes scenes , videography and photography, many more facilities in the prisons, videoconferencing of trials for both the FSL officers from their offices and the prisoners from their jail rooms (part of e.sakshya ),upto date equipment and tools for cyber crime control and also narcotics control , prosecution officers and their facilities , updating more frequently all crime investigation documents onto CCTNS 2.0 . The request made was for more liberal funding by the central #government of the various schemes to help the state governments implement these #reforms quicker and better.Jan 2, 2026
New Year’s Eve
On New Year’s Eve, the office witnessed significant footfall, with several officers and members of the public calling in to exchange New Year greetings. During the course of the day, Mr.Anand also called on Hon'ble Governor, Hon'ble CM and Hon'ble Deputy CM to personally exchange greetings.
