During the Sportstar Conclave - Focus Telangana, Hyderabad Police Commissioner C.V. Anand expressed his opinion on the significance of sports in community building and the positive impact it has on the nation. Anand also shared how sports have contributed to his personal and professional growth and encouraged young people to participate in sports.

Sports is an activity that brings people together, and as a nation and a country, we can move forward. Although sports is a physical activity, even activities such as yoga and laughter pranayama can give people great enthusiasm. I see the joy in people’s faces, and it reinforces the importance of Sports for Community Building.

When we were young and didn’t have much screen time, WhatsApp, or social media, we had a lot of spare time to play. We played a lot in schools, colonies, and in the streets. From cricket to flying kites, we had a lot of physical activity. Sports require physical movement, which helps build relationships and understanding with people that may not happen when playing a computer game,” Anand said.

The Indian sports ecosystem is steadily growing, and the emergence of star Javelin champion Neeraj Chopra has greatly enhanced the country’s reputation on the global stage, according to the police commissioner.

“Sports play a crucial role in developing essential life skills that are necessary to lead a fulfilling life. As a leader of an organization, I must manage it efficiently, and I believe that sports have been instrumental in teaching me the necessary skills to do so. My experiences playing cricket, tennis, and other sports have been invaluable in shaping my leadership abilities. Additionally, sports have a significant impact on building the image of a nation. For instance, the recent achievements of Neeraj Chopra and the men’s 4x400m relay runners have showcased the immense potential of Indian sports and athletes..,” he said.

Anand stated that compared to his era, it is now easier to earn a living by playing sports due to the drastic improvement in the ground situation.

“Previously the circumstances were different where there was no life security but now with the Khelo India games, slowly talent is coming and medals are coming. We need more moments like Neeraj winning a World Championship as it gives an impetus to the community. In my 32 years in police service, I found sports is a way to interact with people and the community and I have used sports in policing. Through sports, we could reach people and it was one of the methodologies to connect with people. Even Mohammad Siraj had a tough time before entering the Indian team and I am glad he is doing so well. I want Hyderabad cricket to grow and I wish them the best,” he added.

HCP gears up for TSLA election to be held in forthcoming months

 Ahead of TSLA election to be held in the forthcoming months, City Police Commissioner Mr.CV Anand spearheaded an exhaustive meeting involving officers of ACP rank and above to discuss the preparatory measures.  The meeting  held at the 17th floor of City Police Headquarters, TSPICCC all  senior officers engaged in meticulous discussions on pivotal matters. 

The agenda encompassed  aspects such as vulnerability mapping, identification of critical polling stations, joint inspections, deployment strategies for specialized forces including striking units and flying squads, and personalized visits to polling stations by ACPs and Station House Officers (SHOs), particularly to aid those newer to their roles.

Integral to the meeting  was a detailed review of cases pertaining to the elections.  The imperative of preemptively addressing potential disruptors and anti-social elements through binding measures was underscored. Additionally, a strategic compilation of individuals involved in election-related offenses in previous elections was discussed. 

All Police Nodal officers should acquaint themselves with their allotted  areas and maintain coordination with the officers, urged the senior echelons.

DCPs were tasked to identify to suitable accommodation for CAPF and also outside forces. More emphasis on enforcement work with regard to seizures etc., Logistics issues, force deployment, and other issues were discussed.

VC held with all traffic officers

 City Police Commissioner Mr.CV Anand held a video conference on Saturday with all traffic officers which served as the launch pad for an all-encompassing Traffic Action Plan to ensure smooth flow of traffic and enhance road safety. The conference commenced by acquainting new entrants to the Hyderabad Traffic Police (HTP) with the realities of burgeoning traffic volumes, the surge in vehicle numbers, and the recent reorganization within the Traffic wing.  

In his address, CP Anand accentuated the cornerstone of effective traffic management—the "4 Es" framework: Engineering, Education, Enforcement, and Enablement. He underscored the fact that this responsibility of traffic duty  directly influences every citizen's life, motivating the officers to work with a proactive spirit.

Regarding the engineering facet, field-level officers received directives to initiate strategies that include the implementation of reversible lanes, strategic U-turns, and median closures, all substantiated by thorough analysis. Essential directives encompassed the removal of structural impediments and the full utilization of ITMS capabilities for swift responses to road-related incidents. All traffic SHOs were instructed to develop one model junction in their respective jurisdictions. The top brass emphasized the harmonization of engineering efforts with the state government's infrastructure projects, such as SRDP, SNDP, and flyovers, aiming to enhance traffic flow and average speeds within the city.

Turning the spotlight to enforcement, the conference highlighted the significance of general enforcement against all types of road violations. Special drives targeting life-endangering infractions. Bolstering enforcement, the doubling cranes  across all traffic Police Stations and the implementation of the ROPE  (Removal of Obstructive Parking and Encroachments) became focal points. HTP's commitment to qualitative enforcement,  was underscored.  

The importance of constructive dialogues with diverse stakeholders—school administrations, RTC officials, and auto unions—was acknowledged as integral to the mission. Enablement: Prioritizing the welfare of staff officers, the adoption of body-worn cameras, periodic medical check-ups through the Fitcop program, the introduction of traffic umbrellas, and monthly recognition and rewards for traffic officers were emphasized. 

Enforcing GOs pertaining to parking norms, data analysis, . Continuous Training for staff at TTIs, usage of pelican signals, and other operational aspects were given.All senior officers were instructed to led the men from the front and by example and use the rain gear, cones and bullets, other infra. Addl.CP Traffic outlined the new initiatives in traffic wing.

TSNAB forges ahead through enforcement, enhanced coordination, awareness drives

 Telangana State Anti-Narcotics Bureau forges ahead  in advancing the state Government’s vision towards a  drug-free society,    by intensifying enforcement, enhancing coordination, awareness drives and strategizing operational tactics.  This new bureau, launched on May 31st 2023, serves as the state nodal agency for NDPS cases and liaises  with central agencies and state departments. 

Fuelled by globalization, the rapid advancement of technology and innovation in the retail distribution, the drug trafficking environment is extremely dynamic and traffickers have been using all available tools. Nevertheless, the Anti-Narcotics operations by TSNAB  & state police have yielded noteworthy seizures. The operational statistics(June & July) adequately reflects the enforcement efforts. The potential street value of the seized drugs stands at Rs  26,01,34,650 . Of the 196 cases registered, 175 pertain to Ganja, resulting in the apprehension of 353 individuals, and 46 persons were arrested in 21 other narcotics cases.  

On the awareness front, the 3- day state awareness campaign in June  under the theme of “Mission Parivartana” left an indelible impact on  the youth, fostering engagement and dialogue. A plethora of engaging activities including panel discussions, impactful graffiti murals, competitions, and awareness programs were conducted across the state, and the awareness wing of the bureau continues its drive to reach out the vulnerable through all platforms.  At the state-level NCORD meeting on July 5th, the Chief Secretary and the  Director TSNAB(member convener state NCORD) stressed the need for cross-departmental synergy to devise a comprehensive strategy. 

In the  maiden full-scale review meeting chaired by Director Mr.CV Anand on 14th August, he explained the mission, vision and motto of the bureau to the new officers and the achievements on the narcotics front in the last 2 years and the seriousness of the Govt in eradicating this menace . 

The extensive  review  delved into several issues spanning from procurement of cutting-edge technologies and tools, to the vigilant oversight of operations,  tracking mechanisms. Furthermore, the meeting addressed rectifying procedural shortcomings, monitoring precursor intermediary chemicals, ensuring robust case resolutions that culminate in convictions, conducting rigorous financial investigations, and the confiscation of ill-gotten properties using NDPS and SAFEMA acts,  and  re-routing of narcotics-related Dial-100 calls to TSNAB ,  strengthening  Anti-Drug Committees (ADCs)etc., 

 “Let this be our personal mission as our own children may get afflicted in future due to bad company and bring untold misery to the family “ said Mr.CV Anand who kindled a collective sense of personal commitment  at the  conclusion.

Raja Bahadur Venkata Ram Reddy - remembered

 City Police Commissioner Mr.CV Anand garlanded the statue of Raja Bahadur Venkata Ram Reddy on the occasion of his 154th  birth anniversary celebrations organised by Raja Bahadur Venkat Ramreddy Educational society here at YMCA ‘X’road, Narayanaguda.  CP Anand attended as the chief guest  and hailed the pioneering contributions made by Raja Bahadur Venkata Ram Reddy who served as the 14th Kotwal during the Nizam  era.

“He took charge as Kotwal in 1920,and in his 14 years service, handling both civic & policing works ,he relentlessly worked on abolishing many social evils prevalent in those times and established educational institutions for the welfare of the Girl child.” said the city police chief. “His legacy reverberates through decades as the architect behind the City Police Act 1938, showcasing his foresight.” He added. 

The educational  institutions established by him to uplift the society  still pays rich dividends,  said Mr.Anand while citing how his own  family also got benefitted by studying in those institutions and urged the students to draw inspiration from Raja Bahadur Venkata Ram Reddy’s life and work hard to succeed.

He appreciated the executive body of the institution and presented Gold medals & Rs 5000 cash each  to Mr.Raghavendra,  Inspector – IT cell,  Hyderabad City and Mr.K.Ravinder; Inspector – Social media Cell, Cyberabad for  their outstanding performance in recent times.
