Director General of Police (DGP) C.V. Anand has directed officials to expedite the construction of the Young India Police School (YIPS) at Manchirevula and develop it into a model educational institution for the country.
Reviewing the progress of the school during a Society Committee meeting held on Tuesday, DGP Anand, accompanied by President of IPSOWA or IPS Officers’ Wives Association , Lalita Anand and committee members, assessed the status of infrastructure development and other key initiatives.The ipsowa has also decided to pitch in with their might to help complete the school which is mainly for police children .
Prior to the meeting, the DGP interacted with students, joined them in a game of football, and watched demonstrations of archery, fencing and other sporting activities. He appreciated the students for their enthusiasm and talent.
DGP sir said the school had been established by the Telangana Government and the State Police Department with the objective of providing world-class education to the children of police personnel, police martyrs and members of the public. Stressing the importance of holistic education, he said the institution should nurture discipline, moral values, patriotism, service-mindedness and responsible citizenship among students.
Expressing concern over the increasing influence of drug abuse and other harmful habits among youngsters, the DGP said the school should maintain the highest standards of discipline and values-based education. "This institution should produce responsible citizens with strong moral character and a deep sense of commitment to society and the nation," he said.
During the review, the committee discussed the progress of the school buildings, academic plans, the proposed curriculum and infrastructure requirements. Pending proposals, bills and development works were examined, and necessary approvals were accorded.
The DGP also advised senior police officers to visit the school regularly and mentor students in leadership, discipline, patriotism and public service.
The Young India Police School, which commenced operations last year with an initial batch of 125 students, now has a total enrolment of 345 students up to Class VI for the 2026–27 academic year.
The meeting was attended by Mahesh Bhagwat, Director General (Law & Order); Dr. Anil Kumar, DG (octopus), IG, P&L Gajarao Bhupal, IG (Welfare) Uday Kumar Reddy, Srinivas DCP Serilingampally; Finance Adviser Sharath Kumar; Principal Anita; Founder Vishal; and other members of the school staff.
