DGP C.V. Anand Visits Karregutta Hills

On the third day of his district visit, Telangana DGP Sri C.V. Anand visited the Karreguttalu (KG Hills) area in the dense forest stretch along the Telangana-Chhattisgarh border, which was once a stronghold of Maoists for several decades. He said the decline of Maoism in the region was the result of sustained joint operations by the Telangana and Chhattisgarh Police, the efforts of Greyhounds, local police and CRPF personnel, along with Telangana’s surrender and rehabilitation policy.

In a significant development, senior police officers from Telangana, CRPF officials, the Collector, SP, DFO and the district administration visited KG Hills together, possibly for the first time in nearly five decades. The DGP hoisted the National Flag and Telangana Police flag, marking a significant transition in an area once dominated by Maoist activity and signalling the beginning of a new phase of development.

The DGP said the new road and plans to connect KG Hills with surrounding areas could open up significant opportunities for the socio-economic development of the region, while its scenic landscape also offered potential for tourism and allied development. He also visited the CRPF Forward Operating Base at Tadapala and commended the personnel for their operational excellence and commitment. During the visit, he interacted with villagers and heard about their experiences and the changes witnessed in the region.
