DGP C.V. Anand Inaugurates AI-Powered Dial 112 Emergency Response System at TGICCC

Telangana Director General of Police (DGP) Sri C.V. Anand on Thursday inaugurated the state-of-the-art Emergency Response Support System (ERSS) – Dial 112 at the Telangana Integrated Command and Control Centre (TGICCC), marking a major milestone in strengthening emergency response and public safety across the State.

The AI-powered Dial 112 platform seamlessly integrates multiple emergency services, including Police, Fire, Medical, HYDRAA, Municipal, Electricity, Highway authorities and Disaster Response agencies, enabling faster, coordinated and efficient emergency assistance through a single helpline. Citizens will no longer need to remember multiple emergency numbers, as all emergencies can now be reported by dialling 112.

The system uses Artificial Intelligence to instantly transcribe conversations, identify the nature of the emergency, generate a concise summary, determine the appropriate responding department, and accurately locate the caller. This allows operators to quickly dispatch the required resources, significantly reducing response time during emergencies.

Special assistance desks have also been established to cater to senior citizens, women and children in distress, as well as Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) seeking help for their families and friends in Telangana. Equipped with advanced dashboards and real-time analytics, the facility can handle more than 900 calls simultaneously, making it one of the country's most advanced integrated emergency response centres.

In a first-of-its-kind initiative in India, Telangana Police has integrated drones as first responders into the Dial 112 ecosystem. The drones will provide instant aerial assessment during major emergencies, enabling field personnel to make faster and better-informed operational decisions.

Speaking on the occasion, DGP C.V. Anand recalled that he had been associated with the project since its inception. He said the foundation for the integrated emergency response system was laid during his tenure as Commissioner of Police, Hyderabad, when the budget was allocated to shift the erstwhile Dial 100 Operations Centre from Kompally to TGICCC and integrate multiple emergency services under one platform. He noted that despite several operational and administrative challenges encountered during the implementation, the project was successfully completed through the collective efforts of police officers and various stakeholder departments.

The DGP also announced that Telangana Police will soon introduce drone-based Dial 112 services along with drone-assisted traffic and crowd management. He directed officers across all police units to closely monitor Dial 112 calls, emphasising that the system would play a vital role in crime prevention, emergency response and enhancing visible policing across the State.
