DGP Hands Over ₹1 Crore Insurance Cheque to Family of Deceased AR Constable

 

Director General of Police Sri C.V. Anand, IPS, handed over an insurance cheque of ₹1 crore to the family of AR Constable V. Charan Kumar (PC-8968) of the Malkajgiri Commissionerate, who was serving on deputation with the EAGLE Force.Constable Charan Kumar sustained critical injuries in a road accident while returning from duty in September 2025. Despite receiving medical treatment, he later succumbed to his injuries.

The DGP appreciated the efforts of the EAGLE Telangana team, led by Sri Sandeep Shandilya, for coordinating with the State Bank of India to ensure the bereaved family received the insurance claim without delay. He commended the team for their dedicated efforts in extending timely financial support to the family during a difficult period.

Expressing his heartfelt condolences, Sri C.V. Anand conveyed his sympathies to the bereaved family. He said he was deeply moved on seeing the constable's two young children and assured the family that the Telangana Police Department stands firmly by them during this difficult time.

DGP Conducts Comprehensive Review of Technical Services, PCS and CCTNS, TGCOP & HawkEye Upgrades

Director General of Police Sri C.V. Anand, IPS, conducted a comprehensive review of the Technical Services and Police Computer Services (PCS) Wings to assess the progress of key technology initiatives aimed at strengthening policing and citizen services across Telangana.The review covered the ongoing development of the CCTNS, TGCOP and HawkEye platforms, all of which are being enhanced with new features and are slated for rollout as Version 3.0 to better meet the evolving requirements of policing and public service delivery. Progress on the implementation of e-Office, HRMS enhancements, data integration projects and advanced analytics initiatives was also reviewed.

In his opening remarks, the DGP recalled Telangana Police's long-standing leadership in technology-driven policing. He noted that the department has consistently remained at the forefront of innovation, beginning with the launch of the country's first e-COPS system, the introduction of CCTV surveillance around Hussain sagar, concept of lake policing and the deployment of first camera-mounted police vehicle in 2003. He emphasized that this legacy has continued through sustained technological advancements over the years.

While reviewing the status of individual projects, Sri C.V. Anand expressed concern over the slower-than-expected pace of implementation. He directed that administrative, technical and budget-related bottlenecks be resolved on priority to ensure timely completion of ongoing initiatives.

The DGP instructed the Technical Services, Police Computer Services (PCS), Planning & Logistics (P&L) Wings and all other stakeholders to streamline coordination, expedite project execution and maintain strict adherence to implementation timelines. He further directed that all future IT hardware procurements should be AI-ready to support the department's technology roadmap. Emphasizing the department's next phase of digital transformation, the DGP also instructed all concerned officers to ensure complete preparedness for the launch of the Telangana Smart Policing using AI Research and Knowledge (T-SPARK) organisation in the coming days.

11th All India Police Judo Cluster Championship 2026 Concludes at Gachibowli

The 11th All India Police Judo Cluster Championship–2026, organised by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) at the Indoor Stadium, Gachibowli, concluded on a grand note on Wednesday. More than 1,600 sportspersons representing 36 police and central armed police forces from across the country participated in the championship, showcasing their sporting excellence.

Telangana Director General of Police C.V. Anand attended the valedictory ceremony as the Chief Guest and presented trophies and medals to the winners. Congratulating the participants, he said that bringing together police personnel from different parts of the country on a common sporting platform is a true symbol of national integration and unity. Such competitions strengthen mutual understanding, camaraderie, and professional bonding among police forces, he added.

The DGP said that sports not only promote physical fitness but also contribute significantly to mental well-being. Martial arts such as Judo, Karate, and Taekwondo help develop discipline, self-control, confidence, and resilience. He urged everyone to make sports an integral part of their daily lives.

Recalling his own sporting journey, Shri C.V. Anand said that he had been an active sportsperson since his student days and continued to participate in cricket and tennis during his training at the Police Academy as well as throughout his police service.  He had won three championships along with  veteran indian cricketor Madhan Mohan.

He also recalled that during his tenure with the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) in 2019, he Only won the trophy by the force that year. He further mentioned that he had the privilege of captaining the cricket team that emerged victorious in tournaments held at Bengaluru and Vijayawada two years ago.

Addressing representatives of the Sports Authority, the DGP requested that Telangana be given the opportunity to host more national-level cricket and tennis tournaments in the future. He stressed that India, with a population of over 150 core , has immense sporting talent and should aim to win more medals at the Olympic Games and other international championships by identifying and nurturing talent from a young age.

He said sports should be treated as an essential component of education and youth development. Referring to Telangana's recognition of sporting excellence, he noted that international sportspersons  Mahammad Siraj and Nikhat zareen had been appointed as Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) by the Government of Telangana.

The DGP emphasised that police personnel must maintain the same level of fitness from the day of their passing-out parade until the day of retirement. "The police belt should remain the same size throughout one's service," he remarked, describing it as a symbol of lifelong discipline and physical fitness.

He further observed that sports play an important role in keeping children and youth away from drugs and other harmful addictions. He said the All India Police Sports Control Board has been conducting cluster championships every year to identify and promote sporting talent at the national level.

He added that the Telangana Police has also been conducting sports competitions in five clusters across the State. The first cluster competitions commenced on July 8 at Saroor Nagar, followed by competitions in different districts on the lines of the All India Police Sports Control Board.

The DGP appreciated the efforts of the organisers, referees, technical officials, volunteers, and supporting staff for the successful conduct of the championship. He said it was a matter of pride for Telangana Police to host the prestigious All India Police Sports event.

After my visit to districts I realised that they were complaining about lack of sanction of budgets under various heads but upon checking after my return to headquarters it was revealed that there was acute shortage in awareness about the procedure for claiming bills and the way they have to be accounted for. Therefore, a training of trainers programme has been started in dgp office to explain to them in what manner the bills have to be presented , the timelines and the way they have to be checked . Hope the situation improves after this. 

DGP Issued Appointment Orders to 57 Newly Recruited Forensic Science Laboratory Personnel at Nampally

Director General of Police, Telangana, Shri C.V. Anand, IPS, on Monday stated that "No matter how meticulously the police investigate a crime or apprehend an offender, the case may fail in court if it is not supported by strong scientific evidence and quality forensic reports" . He emphasized that the role of the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) has become indispensable in ensuring successful prosecution and conviction of offenders.The DGP was speaking after distributing appointment orders to 57 newly recruited personnel of the Telangana Forensic Science Laboratory at the FSL headquarters in Nampally, Hyderabad. 

Addressing the newly appointed officers, Shri C.V. Anand urged them to upgrade their professional capabilities in accordance with the new criminal laws, which place greater emphasis on scientific and technology-driven investigation. He said forensic reports form the backbone of charge sheets and play a decisive role during trial proceedings. Unless scientific evidence is properly collected, analyzed and presented before the court, offenders may escape punishment despite thorough police investigation.

The DGP advised the recruits to develop a thorough understanding of court procedures, evidence handling, documentation and the legal requirements under the new criminal laws. He stressed that every forensic report should be prepared with the highest standards of accuracy, objectivity and scientific integrity.

Highlighting the growing demand for forensic services, Shri C.V. Anand said the increasing complexity and volume of crimes necessitate further strengthening of the FSL by augmenting manpower and infrastructure. He assured that efforts would be made to provide modern scientific equipment, laboratory chemicals and other essential materials. 

The DGP expressed happiness that among the 57 newly recruited personnel, 36 are Ph.D. holders and 15 are M.Tech graduates, stating that their academic qualifications would significantly enhance the scientific capabilities of the laboratory.

*New Recruits- Strengthen FSL Operations* 

The DGP noted that cases involving narcotics, cybercrime, financial frauds and other technology-driven offences are increasing rapidly, making forensic expertise more critical than ever before.He observed that until now, the Telangana FSL had been functioning with only 38 scientific personnel, resulting in delays in issuing forensic reports due to the heavy workload. The induction of 57 new personnel is expected to substantially reduce pendency and ensure faster submission of forensic reports, thereby improving the quality of investigations and increasing conviction rates in courts.

He called upon the newly appointed officers to work with dedication, professionalism and scientific temperament to strengthen the criminal justice system and contribute towards improving conviction rates.Speaking on the occasion, Shikha Goel, Director, Telangana Forensic Science Laboratory, said the newly recruited personnel would undergo a five-month training programme. As part of the induction process, they will receive 15 days of Foundation Training at the Telangana Police Academy (TGPA), followed by 12 days of practical training at the Forensic Science Laboratory, apart from specialized technical training in their respective disciplines.

She stated that the Telangana FSL currently maintains a case disposal rate of around 80 percent. In sensitive cases such as those under the POCSO Act, forensic reports are being issued within two months to facilitate speedy investigation and trial.Referring to the Government's Zero Tolerance Policy against drugs, the Director said timely forensic examination is critical for narcotics cases, making the role of FSL experts even more significant. She added that the trainees would receive comprehensive instruction on scientific investigation, modern forensic techniques, evidence management and courtroom procedures in accordance with the new criminal laws.

The programme was attended by Joint Directors Ms. Madhushree, Shri Ravikumar Goud and Ms. Dharmita, Assistant Directors, senior officials of the Forensic Science Laboratory, Telangana Police officers and the newly recruited FSL personnel. 

DGP Presents Proposals on Traffic Management & Road Safety Bureau and Anti-Drug Safety Framework for Educational Institutions

 Director General of Police Sri C.V. Anand, IPS, made detailed presentations before the Hon'ble Chief Minister on the proposed Traffic Management and Road Safety (TMARS) Bureau and a comprehensive framework for establishing Anti-Drug and Safety Committees in educational institutions across Telangana.A detailed presentation was made on the proposed Traffic Management and Road Safety (TMARS) Bureau, followed by an extensive discussion with all stakeholder departments. The Hon'ble Chief Minister shared his vision and suggestions on the proposed bureau and provided directions on its structure and future course of action.

The proposed TMARS Bureau aims to standardise traffic management practices and road safety measures across the State, undertake critical improvements in traffic signals and road infrastructure, strengthen highway patrolling, and implement coordinated measures to reduce fatalities in road accidents.The meeting also deliberated on the proposal to establish Anti-Drug and Safety Committees in all educational institutions. Developed after months of consultations, the proposal outlines a structured mechanism to prevent drug abuse and promote student safety on campuses.

The proposed framework includes clearly defined roles and responsibilities for educational institution managements, campus coordinators and designated spotters to identify students exhibiting behavioural changes and facilitate timely intervention. It also proposes accountability measures for institutions, student affidavits promoting awareness and responsibility, and compliance mechanisms to ensure effective implementation.The Hon'ble Chief Minister appreciated the proposals, offered several valuable suggestions and directed that the initiatives be further strengthened through inter-departmental coordination. He emphasized the need for a comprehensive and sustainable mechanism to safeguard students and build drug-free educational campuses across the State.The Chief Secretary and the Director General of Police will jointly coordinate with the concerned departments to refine the proposals and develop an effective implementation framework aimed at strengthening road safety and protecting the future generation from the menace of drugs.

DGP C.V. Anand Reviews Statewide Cybercrime Response, Directs Stronger Coordination and Capacity Building

DGP C.V. Anand on Tuesday conducted a statewide video conference with all Commissioners of Police, Superintendents of Police and senior officers of the Cyber Security Bureau (CSB) to review Telangana Police's preparedness and response to the rapidly growing threat of cybercrime.The meeting involved a comprehensive review of cybercrime enforcement, investigation, capacity building, public awareness initiatives and the implementation of key directives issued by the Hon'ble Prime Minister during the recent PRAGATI meeting, where cybercrime was identified as a national priority.

The DGP reviewed the progress made in areas such as timely restoration of defrauded money to victims, grievance redressal mechanisms, effective utilisation of the Sahyog and Samanway portals, coordinated inter-agency action and the automatic registration of e-Zero FIRs in cyber fraud cases involving losses exceeding ₹5 lakh. Compliance achieved so far was assessed, while shortcomings and areas requiring further improvement were identified for immediate attention.

To strengthen public outreach, the DGP announced that the Cyber Security Bureau will function as the State-level nodal agency for organising statewide cyber awareness programmes on the first Wednesday of every month. These initiatives will be supported by intensified social media campaigns to educate citizens on emerging cyber threats and preventive measures.

As part of efforts to enhance institutional capacity, the Cyber Security Bureau will conduct specialised training programmes for police personnel across the State and develop dedicated "Cyber Warriors" in every police station to improve local cybercrime response and investigation capabilities.

The meeting also reviewed the upgradation of digital forensic equipment, data uploading pendencies, investigation lapses, identification of cybercrime hotspots and strategies to dismantle organised mule account networks. Officers were instructed to initiate stringent legal action against habitual cyber offenders, including invoking the provisions of the Preventive Detention (PD) Act wherever applicable. Measures to further strengthen the cybersecurity posture of the police department were also discussed.

Highlighting the scale of the challenge, the DGP noted that citizens in Telangana lost nearly ₹1,560 crore to cyber frauds during 2025, compared to ₹256 crore lost in conventional thefts and burglaries during the same period. He observed that nearly one out of every four FIRs registered in the State now relates to cybercrime, underscoring the need to treat cybercrime as a core policing priority.

The DGP called upon all Commissioners and Superintendents of Police to foster greater teamwork, strengthen coordination with the Cyber Security Bureau, ensure seamless sharing of intelligence and best practices, and increasingly leverage Artificial Intelligence and emerging technologies. 

DGP C.V. Anand Reviews Key Policing Reforms at Staff Officers' Meeting

Director General of Police (DGP) C.V. Anand chaired a Staff Officers' Meeting to deliberate on a wide range of strategic and administrative issues aimed at strengthening policing in Telangana. The meeting focused on policy reforms, manpower optimisation, technology upgradation and organisational restructuring to enhance the efficiency of the police department.

One of the key subjects discussed was the implementation of the Security Review Committee (SRC) report. As part of the review, unnecessary security deployments made in the name of Maoist threat are proposed to be withdrawn, resulting in the availability of nearly 400 police personnel for regular policing duties, besides freeing up a fleet of bulletproof vehicles for more effective utilisation.

The meeting also reviewed a comprehensive audit of manpower and vehicles across the department and discussed the methodology for implementing the audit recommendations. Another major agenda item was the future functioning of the Greyhounds and OCTOPUS units from a single campus in view of the prevailing security scenario.

The DGP also reviewed the progress made in finalising the Telangana Police Manual and its accompanying compendiums, which are expected to provide updated operational guidance for the force.

Issues relating to the IPS ceremonial uniform were also deliberated. Discussions centred on the relevance of traditional practices such as wearing cross belts and carrying batons during ceremonial occasions, with suggestions made to align the uniform with contemporary policing standards.

The welfare and service-related issues concerning Telangana Special Police (TGSP) personnel also came up for discussion. It was emphasised that greater coordination and support from other wings of the department would be essential in addressing these concerns effectively.

The meeting further examined proposals for establishing specialised enforcement wings in areas such as vigilance, food adulteration, drug control, traffic management and road safety. Plans for creating a dedicated Traffic and Road Safety Bureau were also reviewed.

On the technology front, the DGP discussed the proposed transformation of the existing Technical Services and Police Computer Services wings into a modern technology-focused organisation capable of addressing emerging digital policing requirements. The progress of the department's flagship digital initiatives, including CCTNS 3.0, TGCOP 3.0 and HawkEye 3.0, was also reviewed.

Senior officers offered their suggestions and views on the various proposals discussed during the meeting. The DGP stated that these inputs would be carefully examined and incorporated, wherever appropriate, before the policies are finalised.

Mohammed Siraj Calls on Telangana DGP

 Indian cricketer and Telangana Police Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Mohammed Siraj called on the Director General of Police (DGP) as per protocol.

Recalling Siraj's early years, the DGP said he had watched the fast bowler's progress from his days in tennis-ball cricket. He noted that during 2013-14, former Hyderabad cricketer and then selector Abdul Azeem had invited him to witness Siraj's talent firsthand.

Following that, Siraj was drafted into Hyderabad's two-day league cricket, before progressing to the three-day league in 2015. His exceptional pace and accuracy earned him a place in the Ranji Trophy squad. In the 2016-17 Ranji Trophy season, Siraj claimed 41 wickets, a performance that marked the beginning of his rapid rise in Indian cricket.

Describing Siraj's journey as an inspiring example of perseverance, the DGP said his rise to representing India across all formats of international cricket reflects how talent, discipline and hard work can overcome even the toughest challenges. He added that Siraj has consistently strengthened India's pace attack with his speed, intensity and remains one of Hyderabad's proud sporting icons.

The DGP congratulated Siraj on his achievements and wished him continued success and many more memorable performances in India's colours.

DGP reviews Police Welfare and Health Protection Schemes

“Putting police welfare at the centre of institutional reforms” Telangana DGP C.V. Anand. Director General of Police C.V. Anand Monday reviewed the functioning of the Police Welfare society and Arogya Bhadratha (Health Protection) wings at the DGP Office and reaffirmed that the welfare of police personnel and their families remains one of the highest priorities of the Telangana Police. The meeting extensively reviewed the implementation of welfare schemes, their progress and future course of action.

Addressing the officers, the DGP said the department has been implementing a wide range of welfare initiatives aimed at improving the quality of life of police personnel and their families. He stated that the department has been encouraging meritorious children of police personnel through Merit Scholarships and Meritorious Scholarships. Financial assistance is also being extended to students preparing for JEE, NEET and other national and state-level competitive examinations, thereby promoting higher education and academic excellence.

The DGP said the department is providing comprehensive welfare support through marriage loans, medical loans, education loans, merit scholarships, meritorious scholarships, additional corpus insurance and various grant-based assistance schemes, ensuring financial security for police personnel and their families.

Reviewing the Health Protection Scheme, the DGP noted that 33,126 police personnel and their family members availed treatment under the scheme during 2025, while 12,392 beneficiaries received treatment up to June 2026. Expenditure under the scheme stood at ₹181.74 crore during 2025 and ₹73.61 crore up to June 2026, reflecting the department's continued commitment to employee healthcare.

He also reviewed the Group Personal Accidental Insurance Policy, under which the families of police personnel who die in accidents while in service receive financial assistance. The insurance coverage includes ₹5 lakh for Constables to Assistant Sub-Inspectors, ₹10 lakh for Sub-Inspectors and Inspectors, ₹15 lakh for Deputy Superintendents of Police, and ₹25 lakh for IPS officers and officers above that rank.

Expressing concern over misuse of welfare schemes, the DGP made it clear that employee welfare programmes should never be converted into commercial ventures. He stressed that all stakeholders must uphold ethical standards and ensure that welfare schemes serve their intended purpose. He warned that misuse by a few could adversely affect thousands of police families who genuinely depend on these schemes.The DGP further directed that revenue generated through police canteens, commercial complexes and other departmental resources should be utilised for strengthening welfare initiatives such as the Young India Police School, education of police children, Civil Services and Group examination coaching, scholarships and marriage assistance. He also instructed officials to enhance the budget allocation for these welfare programmes.

Technology for Transparency and Accountability

Emphasising the need for technology-driven governance, the DGP directed officials to introduce a comprehensive digital welfare management system for the Police Welfare and Health Protection wings. He instructed that beneficiary details, fund mobilisation, utilisation and service delivery should be recorded through an integrated online platform to ensure transparency, accountability and real-time monitoring. Welfare services should be fully digitised, and Welfare Committees should be constituted designation-wise for effective implementation.

He also directed those rental rates for departmental commercial complexes be fixed transparently and that such facilities be made available to police personnel and the public in a fair and accessible manner. Every available departmental resource, he said, should be utilised efficiently to generate additional revenue for welfare activities.

The DGP further instructed officials to ensure that low-interest loans are made available to all eligible police personnel, including 9% interest for open plot loans, 6.75% for housing loans, personal loans up to ₹5 lakh at 11% interest, marriage loans up to ₹6 lakh, and education loans up to ₹30 lakh, including loans for overseas education.

Concluding the review, the DGP said, "The primary objective of every welfare scheme is to ensure that benefits reach every eligible police employee fairly and transparently. Every rupee must be spent responsibly. Transparency, ethics and efficient management alone can strengthen the welfare system."

Concern officers give detailed presentation to DGP on various welfare actives. He directed all officers concerned to take necessary steps for the effective implementation of these decisions and reiterated that ensuring the welfare and security of every police family remains a key commitment of the Telangana Government and the Telangana Police.

Bhagwat, ADG Sanjay Jain, IG Multi Zone II- Shahnawaz Qasim, IG (P&L) Gajarao Bhupal, Secretary Police Welfare, arogya bhadhratha Uday Kumar Reddy, Finance Advisor Sharath Kumar and representatives of the Telangana Police Association, including Gopi Reddy, Srinivas Reddy and along with other senior officers.

Major Institutional Reforms Proposed to Strengthen Food Safety and Drug Control

 Today, the Hon'ble Chief Minister reviewed a detailed proposal for the establishment of the Telangana Food Adulteration & Drug Control Authority (TG-FADCA), a major institutional reform aimed at strengthening the State's fight against food adulteration, illegal drugs and related public health threats.At present, food safety and drug control are handled by two separate departments. The fragmented structure, coupled with acute staff shortages, has limited their effectiveness in enforcement and regulation. This has contributed to growing concerns over the spread of narcotics and the increasing incidence of food adulteration, both of which pose serious risks to public health, including a rise in lifestyle diseases and certain forms of cancer.

The proposed TG-FADCA seeks to integrate these two departments under a single Chief Commissioner, creating a unified authority with dedicated Enforcement, Legal, Laboratory and Administrative Wings. The integrated structure is intended to improve coordination, strengthen enforcement capabilities and enable faster, more effective action against offenders.

To ensure that the authority becomes operational without delay, I have proposed the immediate deployment of 100 personnel, to be redeployed from the staff rationalisation undertaken in the Greyhounds, OCTOPUS and State Intelligence Bureau (SIB) units. The proposal will be finalised after incorporating the suggestions made during the review.

The Chief Minister also reviewed proposals for three other specialised institutions that are planned to strengthen governance and public safety across the State. These include the Telangana Vigilance & Enforcement Wing (TG-VEEV), the Telangana Traffic Management & Road Safety Bureau (TG-TMARS), and the Telangana Anti Drug and Safety Committees (TADASC). Detailed discussions on these initiatives are scheduled for next week.

DGP reviewed various initiatives under Safe City Project

 With rapid urbanisation, increasing population, and the growing use of technology posing new challenges to public safety, the Government of Telangana and the Telangana Police are implementing the Safe City Project by leveraging advanced technologies to build a safer and smarter urban environment. The project primarily aims to ensure enhanced safety and security for women, children, senior citizens, pedestrians, and the general public. 

As part of efforts to further strengthen the implementation of the Safe City Project, Director General of Police, Telangana, Sri C.V. Anand, IPS, chaired a high-level review meeting at the DGP Office on Thursday. The meeting was attended by senior police officers along with officials from GHMC and various government departments to review the progress of ongoing initiatives.

Technology-Driven Measures for a Safer City

The DGP directed officials to maximise the use of advanced technologies such as high-definition CCTV surveillance systems, Integrated Command and Control Centres, Intelligent Traffic Management Systems (ITMS), Emergency Response Systems, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and smart monitoring solutions for effective crime prevention, traffic management, and rapid emergency response.

He stressed that technology-driven policing should continue to play a pivotal role in making Hyderabad one of the safest metropolitan cities in the country.

More Mobile She Toilets for Women's Convenience

Giving priority to women's safety and convenience, the DGP reviewed the status of Mobile She Toilets operating across Hyderabad. Officials informed that 12 mobile She Toilets are currently functional across the city. The DGP directed that 12 additional Mobile She Toilets be installed to provide clean, safe, and accessible sanitation facilities for women at important public locations.

Appreciation for She Teams and Bharosa Centres

The DGP appreciated the effective work being carried out by She Teams, Bharosa Centres, the HawkEye App, Safe Travel initiatives, and public awareness campaigns in ensuring women's safety.He emphasised that all stakeholder departments should work in close coordination so that women can move freely and confidently throughout the city without fear.

Strengthening CCTV Surveillance Network

The meeting reviewed the progress of CCTV surveillance under the Safe City Project.

During Phase-I, a total of 2,306 CCTV cameras have already been installed and are operational, including:

Hyderabad Commissionerate – 974 cameras

Cyberabad Commissionerate – 574 cameras

Rachakonda Commissionerate – 758 cameras

Under Phase-II, installation of 862 additional CCTV cameras is under progress:

Hyderabad – 452 cameras; Cyberabad – 297 cameras; Rachakonda – 113 cameras

The DGP instructed officials to ensure that all CCTV cameras remain fully functional at all times for effective surveillance and crime detection.

Pedestrian Safety and Traffic Management

Reviewing road safety initiatives, officials informed that pedestrian signals have been installed at 77 locations across the city. The DGP also directed GHMC officials to repair and ensure proper functioning of the 404 traffic signals already installed so that both motorists and pedestrians can travel safely.

He further instructed officials to introduce special traffic management measures in congestion-prone areas and improve pedestrian-friendly infrastructure. 

Public Awareness Through Mobile Campaign Vehicles

The DGP directed officials to effectively utilise the city's public address and awareness vehicles to educate citizens on Safe City initiatives, women's safety, traffic rules, cybercrime prevention, and anti-drug campaigns.

He observed that public awareness remains one of the strongest tools in preventing crime and ensuring safer communities.

Stating that Telangana has emerged as a model State in adopting technology-driven policing, Sri C.V. Anand said the Safe City Project would further strengthen crime prevention, improve emergency response, and enhance the quality of life for citizens through coordinated efforts of the Police, GHMC, and other government departments.

DGP calls for Al-led fight against cyber crime

 Director General of Police, Telangana, Sri C.V. Anand, IPS, conducted a comprehensive review of the functioning of the Telangana Cyber Security Bureau  and its initiatives aimed at strengthening cybercrime prevention, enhancing technological capabilities, and ensuring faster assistance to cybercrime victims. 

During the visit, the DGP inspected various specialised wings/ units of the Cyber Security Bureau, including the Cyber Lab, Security Operations Centre (SOC), Central Monitoring Unit, Social Media Unit, Child Protection Unit, and Digital Forensic Unit. He reviewed their operational capabilities, technological infrastructure, investigation methodologies, and ongoing initiatives to combat emerging cyber threats.

On the occasion, Director, Telangana Cyber Security Bureau, Ms. Shikha Goel, IPS, along with senior officers, made a detailed PowerPoint presentation highlighting the latest cybercrime trends, investigative techniques, adoption of advanced technologies, victim assistance mechanisms, and the Bureau's future roadmap. 

 DGP Appreciates AI-Based Cyber Response System 

As part of the review, the DGP personally observed  with the Bureau's AI-powered Cyber Call Centre. During the demonstration, when a caller informed the AI system that she had lost money in a cyber fraud, the system immediately responded empathetically, collected essential details such as the victim's name, location, nearby police station, and incident particulars, and simultaneously alerted the concerned police station for immediate action. 

Impressed by the system's capabilities, the DGP appreciated the use of Artificial Intelligence in providing quick assistance to victims and directed officials to further strengthen and expand such AI-driven citizen services. 

 Significant Progress in Cybercrime Control 

Officials informed the DGP that Telangana has achieved encouraging results in cybercrime control during 2025. Although cyber frauds accounted for ₹1,524 crore in financial losses during the year, the State recorded a 20% reduction in monetary losses compared to 2024. 

The number of cybercrime complaints also declined by 3%, with 91,369 complaints registered during 2025. At the same time, the amount placed on hold (POH) in fraudsters' bank accounts increased from ₹255 crore to ₹279 crore, while the POH percentage improved from 9% to 12%, reflecting better protection and recovery of victims' money. 

 Telangana Ranks No.1 in Cyber FIR Registration  

The review highlighted Telangana's remarkable performance in cybercrime enforcement. Out of 49,620 cybercrime FIRs registered across the country in 2025, Telangana alone registered 21,639 FIRs, accounting for 44% of all cybercrime FIRs in India, placing the State at the top position nationally.

Officials further informed that the FIR conversion rate stood at 78% in high-value cyber fraud cases involving losses above ₹75 lakh, while cases involving losses above ₹1 lakh recorded a 56% FIR conversion rate, demonstrating the State's proactive legal response.

 Cyber Crimes Causing the Highest Financial Losses 

The presentation also revealed that out of 86,177 major crime FIRs registered in Telangana during 2025, 21,639 were cybercrime cases, meaning one out of every four major crime FIRs in the State relates to cybercrime. 

While other major crimes resulted in financial losses of ₹207 crore, cybercrimes alone accounted for ₹1,524 crore, nearly seven times higher, highlighting the growing economic impact of cyber offences.

 DGP Calls for Greater Technological Innovation 

Addressing the officers after the review, DGP Sri C.V. Anand said that EAGLE was one of the first specialised units he had visited after assuming charge as DGP, and he was pleased to now review the Telangana Cyber Security Bureau, another critical organisation safeguarding the State's security.

He stressed that cybercrime is evolving rapidly and directed officers to adopt innovative approaches, Artificial Intelligence, advanced analytics, and cutting-edge technologies to stay ahead of cybercriminals. Referring to national performance indicators released by the Government of India, he observed that Telangana has the potential to become the country's leading State in cyber policing by continuously upgrading technology and strengthening institutional capabilities.

The DGP also stated that the ongoing reorganisation of specialised police units, including Greyhounds, OCTOPUS, the proposed Traffic Management & Road Safety Bureau, and new specialised units dealing with drug-related offences and food adulteration, would enable optimal utilisation of manpower. He instructed that additional resources should be deployed to further strengthen the Telangana Cyber Security Bureau wherever necessary.

Expressing concern over the sharp rise in investment frauds, online trading scams, and digital financial frauds, the DGP warned that failure to control such crimes now could lead to far more serious consequences in the future.

He observed that cyber frauds are pushing many families into severe financial distress, with victims losing their lifetime savings. He emphasised that the future of policing will increasingly revolve around cybercrime and directed every officer to acquire strong technological skills and enhance expertise in cyber investigations to effectively tackle emerging threats.

The DGP reiterated that Telangana should strive to become a national model in cyber policing through technology-driven investigations, rapid response systems, enhanced public awareness, and coordinated enforcement efforts.

The DGP also advised citizens to report cyber frauds immediately by calling the 1930 Cyber Helpline or by lodging complaints through the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal, and cautioned people never to share OTPs, passwords, banking credentials, or other sensitive financial information with unknown persons.

The review meeting was attended along with DGP Sri CV Anand, IPS, Director, Telangana Cyber Security Bureau, Ms. Shikha Goel, IPS, SPs Harshavardhan and Sai Sri, Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs), Circle Inspectors (CIs), and other officers of the Telangana Cyber Security Bureau.

 5th Telangana Police Games & Sports   Meet–2026 Inaugurated by DGP CV Anand 

 Statewide Police Sports to be Conducted in Five Clusters for the First Time

In a major initiative aimed at promoting physical fitness, mental well-being, and sporting excellence among police personnel, the 5th Telangana State Police Sports Meet–2026 was inaugurated on Wednesday by Director General of Police, Telangana, C.V. Anand, IPS, at the Saroor Nagar Indoor Stadium under the Malkajgiri Commissionerate.

The sports meet is being organized as part of the Telangana Police Welfare initiatives to encourage police personnel to maintain high standards of fitness while nurturing sporting talent capable of representing the State and the country at national and international levels.

The inaugural ceremony began with the lighting of the Sports Torch.  ceremonially Sports Torch handed over  by the DGP to the National medal-winning RSI Govinda Reddy. The event was officially declared open with the symbolic release of white doves and colourful balloons, signifying peace, unity, and the true spirit of sportsmanship.

Addressing the gathering, DGP C.V. Anand said that after nearly 35 years of conducting all police sporting events at a single venue, Telangana Police has introduced a new five-cluster model and 21 teams to ensure wider participation from police personnel across the State.

He explained that the decentralized format would enable more officers and staff to compete while also helping identify talented athletes for higher-level competitions. The initiative has been designed on the lines of the All India Police Games, ensuring systematic planning, better exposure, and scientific preparation for future championships.

The DGP said Telangana Police would provide intensive coaching and specialized training to promising sportspersons so that they can bring more laurels to the State in national and international competitions.

Highlighting Telangana Police's recent achievements, he noted that the department won 21 medals in the previous edition of the All India Police Games and expressed confidence that the number of gold medals would increase significantly in the coming years.

He also outlined the incentives being provided by the Government to encourage sporting excellence:

- Gold Medal: ₹3 lakh cash reward and three special increments.

- Silver Medal: ₹2 lakh cash reward and two special increments.

- Bronze Medal: ₹1 lakh cash reward and one special increment.

The DGP urged senior officers to actively identify and encourage talented sportspersons within their units and never consider sports as a waste of time. He emphasized the need to provide scientific support systems, including proper nutrition, physiotherapy, fitness management and structured coaching.

Sharing his personal passion for sports, the DGP said that playing golf is a form of meditation for him and helps him remain mentally refreshed despite a demanding schedule. His remark, "I may stop policing one day... but I will never stop playing sports," drew loud applause from the audience.

 *Police Sports to be Conducted in Five Clusters* 

Explaining the new format, the DGP said the 2026 Police Sports Meet has been divided into five clusters to ensure greater participation and better preparation for national and international competitions.

- Cluster A: Boxing, Wrestling, Fencing and other indoor sports commenced on 08 July 2026 at Saroor Nagar.

- Cluster B: T-20 Cricket Tournament will be held at Future City on 17, 18 and 19 November 2026.

- Cluster C: Lawn Tennis, Badminton and other events will be conducted at the Telangana Police Academy on 07, 08 and 09 September 2026.

- Cluster D: Volleyball and Kabaddi competitions will be organized on 03, 04 and 05 November 2026.

- Cluster E: Canoeing, Kayaking and Cycling competitions will conclude the State Sports Meet at Nizamabad.

 *Actor Naveen Polishetty Appreciates Telangana Police* 

Special Guest and popular film actor Naveen Polishetty praised the dedication of the Telangana Police and said that sports build both physical and mental resilience.

He remarked that whenever people face difficulties, the two names that come to their minds are God and the Police, reflecting the immense trust society places in law enforcement.

In his trademark humorous style, he entertained the gathering while conveying a meaningful message that winning and losing are part of life, but participation and sportsmanship are what truly matter. He encouraged police personnel to continue embracing sports as a way of building confidence, discipline and a positive attitude.

 *Large Participation from Police Units Across Telangana* 

Hundreds of police sportspersons representing various Commissionerates, District Police Units and specialized wings from across Telangana participated enthusiastically in the inaugural events. Competitions in Boxing, Fencing, Wrestling and other indoor disciplines commenced immediately after the inauguration.

The inaugural ceremony was attended by Hyderabad CP  V.C. Sajjanar, IPS, Malkajgiri Commissioner of Police Sumathi, IPS, P&L  IG Gajarao Bhupal, senior police officers, police personnel, students from Pulla Reddy Memorial School, college students and a large gathering of sports enthusiasts.

DGP C.V. Anand Inaugurates New Manuguru Police Station, Reviews Policing and Anti-Narcotics Measures in Bhadradri Kothagudem

DGP CV Anand on Monday inaugurated the newly constructed Manuguru Police Station building in Bhadradri Kothagudem district. Although administrative sanction for the project had been accorded nearly a decade ago, the construction remained incomplete due to lack of funds. The project was eventually completed with the support of Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL), public representatives, the district administration and other stakeholders.

The DGP inspected the newly built police station, which is equipped with modern infrastructure, including a Mini Command and Control Centre. He interacted with the station staff and directed them to deal firmly with anti-social elements and rowdy offenders while embracing emerging technologies, including Artificial Intelligence, in policing. He stressed that feeding quality data into CCTNS 3.0 should be treated as a top priority to enable smarter, technology-driven and more efficient policing.

Recording his remarks in the Visitors' Book, the DGP observed that well-designed police stations not only provide a reassuring experience to complainants and members of the public but also create a better working environment that motivates police personnel to perform more effectively.

Addressing the gathering, the DGP called upon every member of the Telangana Police, from Home Guards to senior officers, to pursue the anti-narcotics mission with unwavering determination to protect the youth and future generations from the menace of drugs. He directed officers to intensify enforcement against drug peddlers and cultivators, stating that they should be viewed as an even greater threat than naxalites and dealt with firmly under the law.

Later, the DGP visited the 6th Battalion and SDRF Unit at Chatakonda in Palvancha, where he inspected the barracks, training facilities, armoury, infrastructure and rescue equipment. He also interacted with SDRF personnel. Noting that Bhadradri Kothagudem district is vulnerable to floods and other natural disasters, he stressed the need for rapid mobilisation, close coordination with other departments and maintaining the highest levels of operational preparedness at all times.

In the evening, the DGP conducted a comprehensive review of the performance of the Bhadradri Kothagudem Police Unit. During the review, the Superintendent of Police and other officers made detailed presentations on crime trends, conviction rates, anti-narcotics operations, investigations and key administrative issues.

Highlighting the district's strategic location along the borders of Chhattisgarh and Andhra Pradesh, the DGP said it remains a critical entry point for ganja trafficking. He directed officers to intensify action against ganja cultivation, transportation and organised drug networks, while strengthening surveillance and route checks at bus stations, railway stations and other transit points with the support of K9 units.

The DGP stated that drug traffickers would be treated as more dangerous than extremists and terrorists and would face stringent legal action. He also instructed officers to improve the quality of investigations, enhance conviction rates and ensure the timely uploading of complete digital case records into CCTNS.

Reaffirming the Telangana Police's commitment to the State Government's vision of making Telangana a drug-free State by December 2029, the DGP emphasised that sustained enforcement, public participation and inter-departmental coordination would be key to achieving the objective.

During his visit, the DGP also inaugurated the newly constructed Police Guest House at the District Armed Reserve (DAR) Headquarters in Kothagudem. 

DO BASIC EFFECTIVE AND STRONG POLICING BASED ON INTEGRITY, VISIBILITY AND IMPARTIALITY AND USE OF TECHNOLOGY

 As part of his district tour, Telangana Director General of Police (DGP) C.V. Anand visited Khammam and reviewed policing, crime control, road safety, and technology-driven policing initiatives.

Key Highlights:

• Conducted a comprehensive Crime Review Meeting with police officers.

The Commissioner of Police delivered a presentation on various policing initiatives and key performance indicators.

Major Crime Trends Presented During the Khammam District Crime Review

During the district crime review meeting, the Commissioner of Police presented a detailed analysis of the major crime trends in Khammam Commissionerate.

• Financial fraud cases have witnessed a 30% increase, while job fraud cases have risen by 36%.
• The CP noted a growing number of fake document cases, indicating an emerging trend that requires close monitoring.
• GST-related offences have also come to the notice of the police and are under investigation.

Road Safety & Traffic

• A total of 146 road accident cases were registered in 2026 (up to the review period), compared to 317 cases in 2025.
• Police have identified accident-prone black spots (hotspots) in urban and rural areas and are taking preventive measures by installing road dividers, warning signboards, and traffic indicators, while also conducting public awareness campaigns.

Cyber Crime

• As of June 2026, 711 cyber crime cases have been registered.
• Victims lost approximately ₹9.48 crore in cyber frauds.
• Police have successfully recovered and refunded ₹1.41 crore to victims.
• The overall cyber crime rate stands at 14.9%, the Commissioner informed.

Narcotics Enforcement

• Police seized 1,700 kg of ganja in 2026, while approximately 4,000 kg was seized during 2025.
• The Commissioner stated that Khammam continues to register one of the highest volumes of ganja seizure cases in the State, reflecting sustained enforcement against narcotics trafficking.

The DGP analysed the lapses in the district crime strategies and advised remedial measures in his review.

DGP Recalls District Days as Khammam Gathering Revives Memories of Administrative Camaraderie

 After completing the crime review meeting in Kothagudem, Telangana DGP C.V. Anand, accompanied by IG Multi Zone-I Chandrasekhar, arrived in Khammam, where they were received by Khammam Commissioner of Police Sunil Dutt and District Collector Diwakar. Later in the evening, the Commissioner of Police hosted a dinner get-together, which was attended by Collectors and Superintendents of Police from neighbouring districts.

Speaking on the occasion, the DGP said the gathering brought back memories of his district postings during the 1990s, when officers from different departments frequently met in informal settings. Such interactions, he recalled, fostered camaraderie, strengthened inter-departmental coordination and helped build lasting professional relationships. He said the evening left him feeling nostalgic.

The DGP also said he enjoyed interacting with the younger generation of officers, including Municipal Commissioners, Project Officers of ITDAs,  and Additional SPs, and appreciated the opportunity to exchange ideas with them.

The DGP is scheduled to continue his engagements in Khammam before returning to Hyderabad later in the evening.
