The Hyderabad City Police experienced another remarkable year with peaceful conclusion of all major events, festivals, processions that saw enthused participation of the public in large numbers after 2 pandemic hit years, said the City Police chief Mr.CV Anand in the annual press meet held at the City Police Commissionerate, TSPICCC.
At the outset he appreciated the senior echelons whose concerted efforts , advanced planning synergised to manage security & traffic arrangements during all major festivals of every faith , the flagship state event “Vajrotsavalu” and the National executive meeting of a political party which witnessed the participation of more than 160 VVIPs who were under Z category security cover.
Briefing the media on crime statistics he said that over all index crime in Hyderabad remained same compared with pandemic hit year 2021 with the police registering 22060 cases this year, as against 21998 last year. Two major-crime categories saw decreases, driven by a 1.25 % percent decrease in bodily crime(368 v. 460), 1.14 % decrease in crime against children(350 V 399) reflecting HCP’s continued focus on Women & child safety and the hawkish stance against anti-social elements exercised by invoking 107 Crpc by CP-Hyderabad, counselling, deterrence caused by convictions and adhering to SOP in resolving land disputes.
The City police also opened 91 history sheets against irring offenders, invoked PD Act in against 24 persons and 629 new suspects are under surveillance now. All dacoity & murder for gain cases were detected. Although there is a little spike in property crime by 0.78 %(3094 V 2417), there is an upsurge in recovery which has gone up by 62% in comparison to 54% last year.
Since the women friendly SHE teams have been interacting with the victims in distress with empathy and supportive to file complaints , there has been a marginal increase in Crime against women by 0.91 % (2524 V 2291). “We're renovating facilities, adding more highly-trained personnel, gadgets and fine-tuning our response to make sure we provide every service and every comfort the victim needs.” said the top brass.
While the old style crime patterns have all continued their downward trends, there is a substantial increase in reported cyber crimes. Of the 2249 cyber crimes registered in 2022, 10 percent of the cases were detected as against 4 percent last year.
Reciting the skill building capacity of the Cyber Unit, Mr.Anand said that the teams are now well trained to tackle crypto-currency, VPN, third party and dark web related crimes. The detection of Mahesh bank phishing case, Xsilica payment gate way case and the sensational Rs 903 crore Chinese investment fraud case reflects the sharp investigative skills of the Cyber Crime unit.
The Social Media Action Squad of Hyderabad has been instrumental in swiftly apprehending netizens who post blasphemous posts online to disrupt peace. A total of 94 cases were filed bringing in a good control over bad cyber perpetrators.
Sharing the H-New activities commissioner said that the teams stellar performance brought in a great deterrence and cartels operating out of the state are desisting to supply drugs to Hyderabad. Beginning with local peddlers, consumers the agile teams apprehended inter-state gangs, busted dark web deals and international peddlers and deported them. Alongside, HCP also invoked PD act against the notorious peddlers. Facilitated rehabilitation to help the victims return to normalcy.
The Administration wing, Special Branch, CAR,Home guards Organisation played crucial role in internal operations that benefitted both the organisation and the public it serves.“Every day, HCP singular focus is the safety of every resident, commuter and visitor in our great city.” Said Police Commissioner Mr.CV Anand.
