Interviews Held for Director of Sainik Welfare Post After 18 Years

After a gap of 18 years, interviews for the selection of the Director of Sainik Welfare for Telangana were conducted at the Secretariat, marking a significant step towards strengthening support systems for ex-servicemen.

It was noted that the process had faced delays due to vested interests attempting to stall the selection. Following the assumption of charge in the Home Department, it took nearly three months to secure the required permissions, issue the notification, and send call letters to eligible applicants.

The interview board comprised Secretaries from Home, Finance, and General Administration Departments, along with defence officers from the Kendriya Sainik Welfare Board. A total of around eight Brigadier-rank and 21 Colonel-rank retired officers of the Armed Forces participated in the process.

The Sainik Welfare Board caters to the welfare, services, and related issues of approximately 30,000 retired personnel from the Army, Navy, and Air Force in Telangana.

The interviews were conducted over the course of an entire day. Satisfaction was expressed at the completion of the process, with the expectation that it would provide renewed impetus to the welfare of ex-servicemen. The name of the selected Director will be announced after obtaining the necessary approvals.
