International Day Against Drug Abuse: CP attends TGNAB's event at Jalavihar

City Police Commissioner Mr.CV Anand attended the awareness event organised by the Telangana Anti Narcotics Bureau  at Jalavihar, Hyderabad, as part of the lead-up to the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking observed on June 26th. The event witnessed the participation of over 2,000 students from various educational institutions, along with the presence of dignitaries including state ministers, popular actor Nikhil, and senior officials from various government departments.

Addressing the gathering, CP Anand highlighted the grave threat posed by drug abuse, especially among the youth. He noted that despite significant enforcement and awareness efforts, cases of drug trafficking and consumption continue to surface, underlining the persistent nature of this challenge.

“This is a problem that is eating away at the very roots of our society. It targets the youth and erodes their future. While law enforcement continues to crack down on peddlers, smugglers, and consumers, the real change must come from within society—especially among young people,” he said.

He urged students to resist peer pressure and make informed, conscious decisions to #SayNotoDrugs. He apprised the efforts of  Telangana government and the H-NEW, Anti Narcotics Bureau, mentioning that their commitment to tackling the menace has earned international recognition, with Telangana recently being awarded the first prize at the prestigious World Police Summit held in Dubai. The event served as a strong platform to spread awareness, encourage student participation in drug prevention efforts, and reiterate the government’s resolve to build a drug-free future.
