The pleasant Sunday morning and the nippy cool breeze
sweeping across Tank Bund witnessed thousands of Hyderabadis gathered at
People’s Plaza necklace Road at 5:30 AM to participate in the gender equality
run organised by SHE teams of Hyderabad city Police to mark the upcoming
women’s day on March 8th.
The event was
flagged off by the honourable minister for Home Shri Mohammed Mahmood Ali , Honorable
Minister for Education Smt. Sabitha Indra Reddy, GHMC Mayor Smt. G Vijayalakshmi
,Shri Dhanam Nagendra( MLA Khairatabad), Shri CV Anand IPS Hyderabad city
Police Commissioner and additional DG women safety Smt. Swati Lakra IPS
She teams was conceptualized
in the erstwhile Cyberabad and Hyderabad
commissionerates in 2014 which created deterrence in eve teasers and improve
the safety and security of women in the state.
Ministers lauding
the efforts of women protection squad said “Hyderabad is the best city to live
in India and one of the biggest reasons for that is because woman feels safe
and secure here.”
The messages by
the dignitaries galvanise the participants who had gathered to show their
solidarity for the cause of women empowerment and safety.
The arrival of
city police commissioner CV Anand further enthused the crowd. Mr Anand
regaled the participants by making Key
announcements in his speech.”Happy to see u all here. On womens day we will
appoint one Woman Inspector as SHO in a L&O police station. It’s a day to
recognise the importance of women in our country who are contributing a lot to
all the major sectors in our country while handling the family
responsibilities.” he said
“ 80 women
SIs have newly reported to Hyderabad
city Police and we look forward to train them and place them in key positions.
he added
“Elaborate security arrangements has been made for the
assembly sessions that are going to start from tomorrow all our officers are
maintaining high alert and the force has been briefed on how to tackle the
issues that may trigger during assembly sessions.” he added
“I am thrilled to
be around so many eminent personalities.” said the little girl Tanya Begum who
campaigned on drug abuse and received
a reward from CP Anand.

officers of the Hyderabad City Police including Addl.CP L&O Sri. D.S.Chauhan
IPS, Addl CP (Crimes&SIT, i/c SHE Teams &Bharosa) Sri A.R.Srinivas IPS,
