Senior IPS officer, Mr.CV Anand took charge as the new Commissioner of Police, Hyderabad City on Saturday at the city police commissioner office at Basheerbagh. Interacting with media persons soon after assuming the charge, Anand said his priority is to ensure safety and security of the citizens. He said the city is witnessing accelerating development in the present scenario.
“I am happy to take charge as the Hyderabad Commissioner of Police. The city is well known for its Ganga Jamuni tehzeeb, it is our first priority to ensure law and order prevails at any cost,” he said.
Mr.Anand recalled that Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, after taking office in 2014 held his first meeting on law and order in the State with the officials of the Telangana Police. “Our priority is to ensure all communities stay peacefully and help in accelerating more development in the State,” he said.
In regard to crime prevention, he said that cyber crime is increasing and special focus will be kept on cyber crime and dark net or shady dealings. “Enforcement drives against the drugs will continue and we will conduct more awareness programs to prevent drug abuse among youngsters. Focus on women safety will be our priority,” the official said.
Few years ago, it was Anand as Additional Commissioner (traffic) who introduced the drunk driving checks in the city to check road accidents. “Traffic police will be very stern as it concerns every citizen and their lives. Streamlining traffic, junction improvement and other aspects of traffic management will be top priority,” he said.
And said as DCP (central) in 2002, he had introduced lake police to save lives and that will be further improved. On the use of technology, the Commissioner said that the police are using technology for various purposes and he will look at how to use it further.
