All Set for CCTV Projects in Cyberabad

Every inch of Cyberabad will be under electronic surveillance soon with various models of closed circuit cameras to be installed across the 3,700 sq km area of the Commissionerate as part of a safe and smart city project.Cyberabad police have begun to reinforce surveillance across the IT corridor, including the Hitech city and Gachibowli belt.

Cyberabad Police Commissioner C.V.Anand told the media that the project was being implemented in four parts.

  • Rs. 5 crore sanction from TSIIC especially for the IT corridor safety under the Abhaya 5 pronged security strategy.
  • TS government sanction of Rs. 50 Crore (Rs. 25 Crore each in 2014-15      and 2015-16) for CCTVs.
  •  Police Station CCTV project.
  • Community CCTV Project under the Public Safety Act.

"This is the first CCTV project to be taken up by the State government. Tender process was successfully completed. Telangana is the only State to have a Public Safety Act legislation, which makes it mandatory for the business establishments having a gathering of 100 or more people to set up CCTVs to cover entrances, exits and parking places. The police will conduct a survey in identified locality or area to assess the number of cameras needed. The cameras will be connected to the command and control centre which is being set up at the Commissioner’s office.” he said.

Mr. Anand has also managed to rope in Residential Welfare Associations and big firms for community CCTV projects to install 250 cameras in Balanagar, Sanathnagar and Jeedimetla police stations. It is proposed to expand the project across other places too.
