Visit to Fire Services, SDRF and Civil Defence Headquarters at Gachibowli

Mr. Anand visited the office of the Director General, Fire Services, State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and Civil Defence Department located in the Financial District, Gachibowli, to gain a firsthand understanding of the functioning of the department. The department is presently headed by Vikram Singh Mann, who earlier served as Additional Commissioner of Police (Law and Order), Hyderabad City.

During detailed discussions and presentations held over nearly two hours, officers briefed on the organisational structure, the number of fire stations, availability of fire-fighting vehicles, and the critical role played by the department in responding to fire accidents, floods, building collapses, and earthquakes. The response mechanisms adopted during such emergencies were explained, and the Dial 101 emergency response control room was also visited.

The officers highlighted several challenges faced by the department, including manpower shortages due to vacancies, equipment requirements, and multiple proposals pending at the government level for consideration. It was noted during the interaction that this was the first occasion on which a Home Secretary had visited the department to directly enquire into its functioning and requirements.

The visit provided an opportunity to understand the operational constraints and requirements of the department, which would be examined further at the government level.

₹8 Lakhs Donated to Police Welfare Fund

On the occasion of Police Commemoration Day, a gesture of solidarity and gratitude was made by participants of the recent Elite Cricket League held at Uppal Stadium on October 9–10. The champion team “Khaki Bullets,” comprising police personnel, contributed their entire ₹5 lakh prize money to the Police Welfare Fund, dedicating their victory to the well-being of fellow officers and their families.

Adding to this noble act, the Tollywood Cricket Association, who finished as runners-up in the tournament, also extended their support by donating ₹3 lakh from their prize share to the same welfare fund.

With these combined contributions, a total of ₹8 lakh has been deposited into the Police Welfare Fund - a sincere testament to unity, respect for service, and the spirit of giving back to the police fraternity.

This collective act on a day dedicated to remembering the supreme sacrifices of police martyrs underscores the continued commitment of both the force and civil society to stand together for the welfare of those who serve and protect.

At Goshamahal, 191 Police Martyrs Remembered; CV Anand Calls It a Grim Reminder of Risks Faced Daily

C.V. Anand on Tuesday  attended the Police Commemoration Day parade and paid respects to 191 police personnel who lost their lives in the line of duty across the country, including six from Telangana.

"Attended the Police Commemoration Day parade at Goshamahal and paid my respects to the 191 personnel who sacrificed their lives in maintaining internal security in the country and the 6 in Telangana . The recent stabbing and death of constable officer Pramod by an offender whom he had caught and was taking to the police station , is a grim reminder of the dangers faced by all the policemen of the country day in and day out , in maintaining law and order in a densely populated country .

These numbers used to be very high in the 1990s when we were fighting Naxalism and I remember 126 names being read for Andhra Pradesh in 1997 when I was SP Nizamabad during the peak of Naxalism . Thanks to the Government and Hon’ble CM for taking care of the families of all martyrs and their welfare 🙏🏻." said Mr.Anand in his X account.
